Had the same issue a long time ago. to resolve it, we map all network drives using gpo preferences and item-level targeting and map the appropriate drive mappings based on ad security group membership. however, we still had to run a script to do a gpupdate /force when folks log on to the vpn. so the first thing that happens after a user conencts. Once the user is connected to wan via vpn workstation can talk to domain controllers, the map drives look disconnected, since there was no communication to dc which provides policy#x27;s , dns etc and dfs servers. Since these server are general not exposed to internet.
